Gesture Figure Drawings
After Patricia received her BA she realized she could not draw the way she wanted. Her vision was to be able to draw the figure with precision. Patricia wanted to bring the image down to the page in quick expressive motions of her pencil. She envisioned swinging the pencil across the page exacting proportions and expressions of the figure in front of her. Patricia knew the only place she could develop this skill was at the Art Students League. She was drawing forty hours a week. It took a few years to acquire a skill and it took study. Patricia studied master drawings at the Metropolitan Museum Drawing Department, the Morgan Library and at Sotheby’s. Patricia attended drawing sessions around SoHo, the Art Students League and classes at the League.
Horse Drawings
Patricia says of these horse drawings, "Anatomy can be seen in all species. These horse sculptures were fascinating and their anatomy was challenging. I had to draw them.
Pen and Ink
When in Paris, Patricia took to pen and ink. The famous landscapes were recognizable at every turn. She did a number of them. These are just a sample.
